The other day I was letting the kids work... When one of my students came up and said, "I just can't do this. It's too hard and it doesn't make any sense." I told her that if she said "my name is ____ and I can do this!" that she'd actually be able to do something. I thought the conversation went completely over her head...apparently not. Two days later she came up to me, showed me her work and said "I told myself that my name was ____ and I can do this. look! I did it miss h!!!"
